Henry (Harry) Hynd,

Harry Hynd was appointed director in 1991 to replace Leo Gerard
after Gerard was named Canadian National Director. He was
re-elected in 1993. After emigrating to Canada from Scotland in 1957,
Hynd joined Local 1005 at Stelco in Hamilton, Ont., and was elected
grievance chair. He was appointed to the union staff in 1971 and served
as District 6 education coordinator. He has served as vice president of
the Ontario Federation of Labour and chair of the MULL Safety and Health
Committee. He is a board member of the Canadian Steel Trade and
Employment Congress and the Workplace Health and Safety Agency. He is a
member of the 1996 Convention Resolutions Committee.
